We are preparing for this testing event in May 2019 all year, at our regular lessons, practising different skills through guided work and mock tests.

You could experience how the test feels in our first mock external exam. All in all, the external exam (NPZ) for English has the following structure:

If you want to do some extra work, you can also practice with doing the previous exams. They are published online and freely accessible on the web page of the National testing centre (RIC).
One of our school tests spring will be in the form of an external exam. Take some time and prepare!

This year, home reading is obligatory. Every students will have to read a book, do some activities and report about it to the teacher.

You can prepare the book anytime till the end of April. Tell the teacher one week before you want to present it, at that time you already have to bring in the words.

You can choose a book as you wish, but you have to follow these criteria:
- if your mark is very good or excellent (4, 5), choose Level 3, i.e. around 1000-1200 headwords. You can also choose a normal book - discuss about the reading activities with the teacher then;
- if your mark is average, choose Level 2, i.e. between 600 and 800 headwords.

Your tasks are:

Read the book.
Choose 10 new or more difficult useful words for your classmates, prepare them on a piece of paper like this:
Word. English synonym or explanation. Example (from the book or elsewhere).
Preparing the words is necessary to present the book and get a mark.
Do three post-reading questions/activities in the book.
Prepare a 5-minute summary in the Past Simple to tell to the teacher. It should not be too short, so be prepared to talk about the book, or, for the higher level, even discuss it with the teacher.
