You can choose how to get your next oral mark. There are two options: A) An oral exam, consisting of: 1) Vocabulary: you have to explain three of the the words that we learned. 2) Description of a person based on a picture. 3) A story in the Past Simple tense: you get a picture story and tell me what happened. You have to use the Past Simple tense and know how to form the positive, negative and questions. B) Home reading. You can choose one of the proposed books, read it and then do the following: 1) Choose 10 new words, write the sentences from the book with this word into your notebook, try to find another English word with the same, similar or opposite meaning and a translation. Here is an example: landing - to land OK. Are you ready for landing? ≠ opp.: take off (vzlet) = pristati, pristanek You will be asked to tell me three words. 2) Prepare a description of one character. You will tell it to the teacher. 3) Prepare to tell the teacher the story - the book's summary - in English, in the Past Simple tense, using the positive, negative and question forms. Try to talk as freely as if telling the story to a friend. ***
If you decide to read a book, tell me by 18 May (test date). Otherwise, I will consider that you want to take the normal oral exam. The oral exams begin on 23 May 2017. ***
Oral presentation: Describing wildlifeTASK: To present a wild animal and show that you can use the Present Simple and the Present Continuous. STRUCTURE: I. Introduction First, tell us what you are going to talk about, which animal. Do this so that you describe a photograph of this animal in action. Here, you are describing one moment in this animal's life, so you use the Present Continuous. II. Main part/Body In the main part of the presentation, you should present the animal's life, its habitat/the environment, its food and family patterns. Tell some basic and maybe interesting facts about it, but do not complicate. This part tells about the every day life and the usual things, so you use the Present Simple. III. Conclusion In the end, mention a problem that this animal faces, or how it is connected to the wider environment/world, how it helps other animals or how it is connected with people. It depends here on what you write; you may use both Present Simple and Continuous. > Help yourself with the Student's book (page 45). There, you can find a sample text, a guide and key phrases. The school year has begun now and the new reading badges are here. There is lots of time before the competitions, but do start reading soon, so that you can take your time and enjoy the books. For the EPI Reading Badge, you should read all five books and fill in short reading reports (see below) and hand them in. This is the condition for taking part in the competition in March 2017. For the Bookworms competition, read all the three books on the list, tell me about it and you will be given a code to enter the competition online. You can do that on your own. Click below to see which books to read and to download the book report. Hello and welcome to the blog for English for the 7th graders!
